According to recent studies, 50% of the workforce is expected to be self-employed in the next five to 10 years. CareerSource North Central Florida is fostering entrepreneurship and advancing the traditional model of workforce through Startup Quest®, an entrepreneurial training program.
Startup Quest® is a unique training program as it pairs teams of participants with professional mentors, who are successful CEOs and entrepreneurs, to create a simulated business based on a technology from Florida universities and NASA. In July 2014, two Gainesville graduates licensed a NASA technology they discovered in the program.
CareerSource NCFL will hold an Introductory Workshop on Tuesday, February 24 at 2 p.m. at the Best Western Gateway Grand, 4200 NW 97th Blvd. Past participants and guest speakers will discuss entrepreneurship. Attendees will learn about eligibility requirements and how to apply for the program.
The pilot program started in Gainesville, and its success led to a $12 million grant for an evaluation study by the Department of Labor.
Startup Quest® is part of an evaluation study funded by the U.S. Department of Labor. Participants will be selected from among eligible applicants. Data collected will remain confidential and will be used for statistical purposes only.
Training is offered at no cost to selected eligible participants. Eligible and qualified veterans are exempt from the random selection process and guaranteed entry into the program.
